GRI Renewable Industries publishes its 2023 Sustainability Report with significant progress in the environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) dimensions.
- 100% of the factories are certified under ISO 14001.
- Physical climate change risks have been assessed at all factories.
Madrid, 29 April 2024 – GRI Renewable Industries, a global leader in the manufacture of towers and flanges for the wind energy sector presents its Sustainability Report 2023. This report highlights the Group’s commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility within the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework, the Global Reporting Initiative’s GRI Standards and the Sustainable Development Goals.
GRI Renewable Industries has integrated Sustainability as one of the 7 pillars of its Strategic Plan 2023/26, providing guidelines to drive the growth of industrial activity. The company works on 4 lines of action: environmental impact, labour relations and human rights, ethics and supply chain.
In the environmental dimension, it is worth noting that 100% of GRI Renewable Industries’ factories are certified under the ISO 14001 standard. In terms of the circular economy, 37% of purchases have already been made with recycled material. In 2023, the Physical Risks of Climate Change assessment project was launched, with the determination of exposure to physical risk factors in all the group’s factories. The project will be extended through 2024 with the calculation of the associated impact based on the time horizons and scenarios defined in the project.
In the social dimension, the frequency rate of accidents with medical leave was reduced by 11% compared to 2022, extending the scope of the ISO 45001 standard to 88% of the factories and covering 93% of the professionals. Regarding customers, a Customer Satisfaction Index of 91% was obtained, with an improvement of 2 points compared to 2022. In terms of community impact, 7 projects have been promoted, benefiting 128,500 people with an investment of 455,000 euros. The company has promoted the corporate environmental program ‘The GRI Forest’, which has planted 18,855 trees in total and has contributed to reducing an average of 250 tCO2 per year.
In the Corporate Governance dimension, corporate policies on Human Rights have been reinforced and more than 12,000 hours of training have been given to more than 2,600 professionals on ethics and Human Rights.
