GRI ranks in the Top 15% Worldwide in the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating

Madrid, September 6, 2024 – GRI Renewable Industries ranks in the TOP15% worldwide out of more than 130,000 companies evaluated by the sustainability agency EcoVadis. This group of companies receives the silver medal as a distinction compared to the rest of the companies evaluated.

Specifically, GRI obtained 66/100 points, improving by 9 points on the score obtained the previous year. The evaluation focuses on four key areas of sustainability performance: Environment, labor relations and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. In the evaluation, the agency highlighted the Spanish company’s robust environmental management and the progress made in implementing policies and measures in the areas of: labor relations, compliance and sustainable procurement.

With the recent publication of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), environmental control and human rights compliance in supply chains will become a critical element for European corporations, which will have to adopt measures to prevent, detect and mitigate any adverse effects caused by their business partners. Precisely, this is one of the main purposes of this type of evaluation, where through an independent third party, a company can request its main suppliers to undergo such assessment, thus being able to accredit their sustainability performance and customers can have a reference on the sustainability risk they incur when working with these suppliers.

The corporate director of communication and sustainability at GRI Renewable Industries, Juan Llovet, said that “EcoVadis is the benchmark provider in the sector for measuring sustainability risk” and that “it will allow GRI to show the efforts the company is making to integrate sustainability principles into the group’s strategy. The wind energy sector is a key sector for the transformation of the economy and a driver of change towards a sustainable model and, therefore, it must also be an example in the integration of sustainability in companies”.
